Hi Katie_Ann, sorry to hear that you are having issue with scanning and printing. I do have a document and a very valuable tip that I would like to share with you. First thing I would like try is, if you have the printer power cable connected to a Power Bar/Strip, please remove it and plug the power cable directly to a wall outlet. HP printers already have a built in surge protector and if you have it connected to a Bar/Strip, the printer will NOT get all the power it needs to function properly and this will cause communication issues as well as false errors on the printer screen. Here is the document that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. Once you have the Power cable connected to the wall outlet, if you still have issues with printing and scanning, please download the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool will do a scan of your computer and printer and whatever the issue, the Print and Scan Doctor will fix it automatically for you.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to write back.
Thank you.
