For a few years now, I have replied in this forum in order to assist users with this problem, as even HP expert posters in various areas of this forum, confirm that this printer in USB mode still requires an "unplug, replug" fix, otherwise, whenever the power save mode setting is reached, it will enter power save mode and remain there, losing the ability to receive facsimilies while in that state.  This is a known problem with this printer in USB mode and has been ever since it was placed on the market. All of these "fixes" replies do not work. HP email replies continued to be "...this is a known problem and experts are working on it..." when they still are not.

To iterate the relevant portions of my prior post and to ensure that my reply does not contravene this forum’s Rules of Participation, I will simply relate (with amendments so as not to "duplicate post") the actual action which I took to obtain the result which posters here apparently also desire, as follows:

After receiving numerous email replies from HP non-supervisory technicians that contained the above referenced statements regarding this problem, I sought and obtained non-legal advice from a South Carolina Consumer Affairs staff member who suggested that, in writing, I notify the office of H-P’s CEO of such contact, that I complied with said suggestion and included all of the mentioned emails, and subsequently received telephonic contact from a supervisory technician of HP headquarters, that I notified him that I did not wish to receive a refurbished similar defective printer replacement, and which contact resulted in my receipt of an upgraded printer that I am still using with no problems.
