Re: HP Officejet 6700 Premium shows offline everytime we turn off our laptops...

These settings are for setting up your wireless printer to stay connected to your router, keep wireless devices better connected and make your router secure and hack proof.

1. Set a static IP in the printer (click here)outside the DHCP range of the router (check your manual).

This is for Linksys routers but can be used for all routers.  Verify your DHCP range and change this

    first if needed.

2. Verify in the printer that 'Auto Off' is disabled.  Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by going to the

printers IP address in your browsers address bar, click  Settings Tab/Auto Off.  Or use the Printer

    Assistant, Printer Home Page (EWS).

In the router:  (Refer to your router manual for information)

3. Use a fixed wireless channel like 1,6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.

4. Set router to 20Mhz only, or 145Mbps depending on router.

5. Always use WPA2-AES (Personal) encryption, but you can try ‘mixed’ mode.

6. Disable WPS and never use it and disable UPnP for the routers security.  Nobody can hack your

system now and helps with wireless connectivity (if you want to know why, search the web).

7. If you have a dual band router (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands), make sure the SSID’s are NOT the same,

they must be different for all bands, even for any Guest networks.

8. Save all settings.  Power off both, wait 5 mins.  Power on router wait 3 mins.

9. Power on printer and verify it reconnects to router.

Windows 7/8/8.1   Is Network Discovery on or off?

  1. Control Panel/Network and Internet/Network and Sharing Center/Advanced sharing settings.

  2. Under Home or Work (current profile) / Network Discovery.

  3. Select "Turn on network discovery" and save changes.

Yes.  The best thing, as always, is to have ATT put their Gateway unit in Bridge mode and bypass their router function.  Now you go back and install your router which you have full control over and install all your devices.

1102w won't always wake up to print.

11102w installed as a network printer won't always wake up to print. On ocassion it will take 10 minutes to hours before the printer prints. Two other HP printers on my network (HP 4100 & HP 8600) work fine.

The 1102w is the only one that has a wireless connection. It is assigned a static IP by my router (Netgear WNDR3700 V4).

Any clues?

Hi Sabertooth thanks for the response, ok heres what I have tried.

1. I reset the printer to factory defaults fromt he control panel on the front of the printer
2. I disabled secuiry on my router
3. I disabled my firewall
4. I tried installing the drivers again but unfortunatley I get the exact same behaviour as menitioned above (It gets stuck at 15% and says unable to communicate to product).

Do you have any other ideas I can try?

I noticed that the option WPS is disabled on my router, and I noticed there is a setting on the printer for WPS.

I don't really know anything about WPS, worth a try?

Any help would be great

WPS should be disabled as it is a security risk for your router.  Follow your manual to connect manually, or what HP calls Traditional Wireless connection.   Must get connected to the router before the software will work.

Routers don't assign static IP's.  They only let them connect if the device itself has the correct IP in it's range.  What is the static IP of the printer?  What is the DHCP range of the router?

sabretooth I tried installing the HP Device Toolbox software to see if it gives me any more options I can configure easily but unfortunatley it installed fine but crashes as soon as I installed it, actually its running when the PC first starts up and crashes straight away.

Also I tried entering the IP address into the printer manually but it wont let me entere the correct IP address I am ust trying to enter a simple address like
192.168.1.254

Any ideas idea?

OK time to back up totally.   I need to make sure you are following the instructions in the user guide to install this printer.  Please start from scratch by uninstalling all software from your computer and outline every step to make sure it is correct.

You have to use the USB cable to set up the wireless connection.

Go here for the User Guide and all installation info.  Get your drivers and troubleshooting info here too.

The reason we have to start over is that you started the software installation when you changed your router.  You don't have to do this, but now we do.

Hi there

I bought this printer (the 3050A) only 6 months ago and I´ve not upgraded to a laptop with Windows 8.1.  Just put CD in to install it and it says it´s not compatible.  Is there a way to override that and continue with the installation.  I LOVE my HP printer and don´t want to have to buy a new one!! :smileyfrustrated:

I have had the printer for a little over a year now and has always worked fine.  All of a sudden, it does not connect to the WiFi in the home.  Any suggestions?  I have ran the test from the touchscreen and it does not see a wifi available.  I have 2 different wifi connections, one is for the kids and the other is for my pc and gaming consoles.  Any assistance would be thankful.

Remember that it does not matter how the printer is connected to the network, wired or wirless, it will still be available for devices to print to no matter how THEY are connected - wired or wireless.
